I'm headed west now, and I made a stop in Kansas City to tour a Harley-Davidson vehicle and powertrain factory. They use all kinds of automation, computerization, hydraulics and robotics to build the bikes today, but there is still handwork involved to polish paint and complete assembly. I particularly liked seeing the beautiful, multi-colored gas tanks all lined-up to go. They looked like gleaming jelly beans. No photos were allowed in the factory, but we did get to hang-out with the beauties (and even sit on them) before and after the tour.
