I've always liked the monuments best at night, and I visited three of them after 10 p.m. Two were new to me: the Martin Luther King and World War II memorials. And the Lincoln Memorial was familiar, but it's always moving. They were all elegant, clean and safe after dark. You see them lit against the night sky and you can't help but feel proud of our country.
