Afloat on the Dead Sea

Nothing is alive in the Dead Sea, thus the name.  Except for people, who flock to this large lake that's split between the countries of Jordan and Israel.  They float in surreal suspension atop the briny water, which has 10 times the salinity of the oceans.  As if the floating weren’t crazy enough, some beach-goers smear mud on their bodies for additional ‘treatment’, while others collect balls of salt.  Meanwhile, the low-sodium hotel pool makes for a nice ‘retreat’.  And all of this happens at 1,400 feet below sea level, the lowest point on earth.

I hear the resorts on the Jordanian side are terrific!
