Little Rock, Arkansas

I expected that the architecture of the Clinton Presidential Library and Museum would be impressive, and it didn't disappoint. It's a bold-looking aluminum, stone and glass box that cantilevers toward the Arkansas River, mimicking six bridges that span the river's banks. Placed parallel to a 1899 trestle bridge of the Rock Island Railroad, it's symbolically the 'Bridge to the 21st Century'.

It's sleek and modern on the inside, too, and filled with interactive video, as well as archival material of all sorts. I particularly enjoyed leafing through three-ring binders of the president's daily schedule, and viewing 'spoof' videos that Bill and Hillary did for the annual press corps 'Gridiron' dinners.

The 30-acre Presidential Center and Park Complex has been key to the revitalization of the Little Rock riverfront. I stayed in the middle of it all, and didn't move the car. It was particularly nice to be on foot after a 600-mile day yesterday. Great restaurants, live entertainment and a farmers market are right there. And I did take an electric trolley ride across the river and back to get a glimpse of those other bridges.
