'Pura Vida' in Costa Rica

'Pura Vida': you see this slogan everywhere you go in Costa Rica. It literally reads 'pure life', but I'm told it really symbolizes 'full of life', or 'this is the life'. I definitely found it all to be true in my 10 days there. And 150-passenger small ship cruising with Windstar is pretty near perfect! It's casual, elegant and VERY active.

We anchored in bays, and were never at a dock. So we went to shore by tender, or for a 'wet landing' via inflatable raft.

Our party of five included my brother Joel and his wife Susan; Joel's longtime friends George and Barbara, and me .

Wherever we went, She (the ship) looked beautiful from the shore.

It was always great to be on deck when the sails were up.

We saw 200-year-old trees on rainforest hikes.

And three kinds of monkeys!

The ship had an on-board SCUBA crew, and I dove with them three times. I also waterskied and sailed.

And, of course, life was good on the beach. I loved this country and its people, and I'm sure the same will be true for my next destination. I leave for Cambodia with Habitat for Humanity on March 18. So I'll be back to you soon . . .
