I’d never been to Croatia, and it was my most anticipated destination for this trip. Dubrovnik didn’t disappoint; I was totally wowed! And there’s still the port of Split to come tomorrow.
Dubrovnik is another walled medieval city, but this one is very special. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site, and its 1.5-mile-long wall, buildings, fortifications and limestone streets are beautifully preserved. That’s in part thanks to recent UNESCO funding that helped repair the significant damage done by bombing during the 1991 -1995 war for independence from Yugoslavia. Seeing the recovery from devastating war here gives me hope for the future of Ukraine.
And a highlight of the day came when I found another great spot to dive in and swim!
